Kozakiewicz's Gesture

I ran across the Wikipedia article on gesture today (via a LanguageLog post) and thought it was pretty informative. I now have nomenclature for the obscene signal made by striking the crook of one elbow with the other hand: Kozakiewicz's gesture. Lovely!

A GUI for making syntactic trees in LaTeX also came to my attention recently. I haven't had the need to use it yet (and I pray I never will) but perhaps someone else will let me know how it works.

Finally, save the date: March 21 is the Mathematical Modelling and Analysis of Language Diversification workshop at Harvard. It promises to be very interesting.
