Luwian = Latvian?
For my first trick, I present to you some Nostraticist propaganda. I found this site while searching Google for a nice cuneiform tablet to use as the background for the blog. The whole thing is rather curious indeed; they've got some fine theories about the Phaistos Disk and Cheops' pyramid. I am also particularly fond of the quote they have about "later more modern 'sing-song' effects" (i.e., accent shift).
Well, I believe it's time to end this delightful discussion and return to writing my Medieval Court term paper. Ciao.

Welcome to the blogosphere.
A couple of clarifications about "Lexiline". First, it's not a "they", it's just Andis Kaulins, a well-known historical linguistics nutcase.
Second, it's not Nostratic. Kaulins believes (though he will deny it when pinned down) that Latvian itself is the original language; that it has somehow resisted all historical change; that all other Indoeuropean languages (and now all Nostratic languages, apparently) are descended from Latvian. It's nice to have that cleared up once and for all :)
