Welcome!

For a while now I've been thinking of (re-)starting a public blog with a more academic focus, and on this first day of 2005, the timing feels right-- so here it is, Ilani ilani. The title comes from the Hittite expression for step by step, which perhaps explains the cuneiform background and the little pointy-headed figurine dude in the corner.

I'll be posting items of [marginal] academic and linguistic relevance here, and my personal blog will remain at livejournal.
