Hittite Travel Phrases
Thanks to Angelo, I am now aware that someone has translated the "four essential travel phrases" into Hittite. I think #3 (kuwapi "bar") is a cop-out, though-- I'd suggest something like 'kuwapi pedan kuēdani šieššar akuwantari,' which translates as "where is the place in which beer is drunk?" I doubt I did the correlative or the mediopassive correctly, but non-native scribes have always been problematic for the Hittites, haha.
I wasn't going to mention this in such a serious, academic blog, but since we're on the topic of Hittite... on my way out of the Harvard Bookstore this afternoon, I saw a book that I thought was right up my alley. Title: The Hite Report on Male Sexuality. Bridget's reaction: The Hittite Report on WHAT?!? Oops.
