Yoda's Syntax
All the ongoing talk about Yoda's syntax and how it's quite complicated [to pick a recent mention at random] gives me a sense of vindication: I vividly recall bombing my first syntax assignment (or should I say, the first time I bombed a syntax assignment), which was on Yoda speech.
Two more finals, and I'm officially done with my undergraduate education...

Using pop culture is a good pedagogical method, anyway. In one of my first syntax classes, the lecturer used a Monty Python joke to explain structural ambiguity: "American beer is making love in canoe! It's fucking close to water!"
