Maybe there's a singularity meme associated with elimination-style reality-based shows.
In the last episode of The Apprentice 4, Trump was faced with the novel dilemma of having two really solid candidates and apparently wanted to hire both. He ended up choosing Randal as winner, but asked him whether he should also hire the runner-up, Rebecca. Randal replied that "it's "The Apprentice, not Apprenti". And of course, there can always be just one Survivor, as we're told every week.
